A 21-year-old man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged street assault in Port Macquarie that occurred in late 2025 and left the victim with significant head and facial injuries. Police allege the incident took place on November 12, 2025, near the corner of Buller and Hollingsworth streets. The victim was initially treated at Port Macquarie Base Hospital before being transferred to Sydney Eye Hospital for specialist treatment. Following extensive inquiries by officers from the Mid North Coast Police District, the accused was arrested at Moree Police Station on May 15, 2026, and charged with reckless grievous bodily harm. He was initially refused bail, but later granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Port Macquarie Local Court on May 27, 2026.
