charges against them dropped in the Brisbane District Court, ending a legal battle that lasted almost a decade. Former Australian Olympic swimming champion Neil Brooks and his wife Linda Brooks have had fraud charges against them dropped in the Brisbane District Court, ending a legal battle that lasted almost a decade. The couple had each faced one count of fraud relating to their former sports apparel company, Adrenaline, which sold compression garments. Prosecutors alleged they made dishonest representations about the business’s financial success in order to induce an investor to purchase a stake in the company in 2008. The alleged fraud was valued at nearly $2 million. On Wednesday, prosecutors announced they would no longer proceed with the case, and Judge Anthony Rafter formally discharged the pair. Their lawyer, Daniel Hannay, said the couple were overseas when they received the news and were overwhelmed with emotion, describing them as “ecstatic” that the ordeal was finally over. Neil Brooks was part of Australia’s famed “Mean Machine” swimming team and won gold at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. He later worked as a presenter with the Seven Network.
