causing a major collision involving four vehicles. Two people remain in critical condition and eight others have been injured following a serious four-vehicle crash at Susan River near Hervey Bay on Queensland’s Fraser Coast. According to Queensland Police Service, a white Mitsubishi Lancer allegedly driven by a 14-year-old boy lost control on Maryborough–Hervey Bay Road shortly after 6pm, crossed onto the wrong side of the road and struck three other vehicles, including a Suzuki Swift, a Hyundai Kona and a Volkswagen Polo. An 18-year-old woman driving the Suzuki and a 16-year-old girl travelling in the Mitsubishi suffered life-threatening injuries and were airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital. Another 14-year-old passenger was later flown from Hervey Bay Hospital to Queensland Children's Hospital. Seven additional people, including the alleged driver, passengers and occupants of the other vehicles, were treated for injuries and taken to Hervey Bay Hospital. Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing.
