Residents in Toowoomba are being invited to a free World Environment Day event aimed at addressing climate change misinformation and encouraging urgent action on global warming. The event will be held on Sunday, June 7, at Lake Annand Park from 10am to 4pm as part of the 50th anniversary of the United Nations initiative. Environmental scientist Dr Ian Craig, a former lecturer at the University of Southern Queensland, will present scientific evidence and discuss the need to improve public understanding of climate risks. Courier Mail Organisers say the day will feature multicultural performances and activities highlighting themes such as Indigenous rights, anti-racism, peace, social justice and multifaith cooperation, reflecting broader United Nations values. The event is open to all members of the community and is designed to inspire informed discussion and practical action as climate change increasingly affects regional communities across Queensland.
