A 56-year-old man has been charged with murder after the body of a woman was discovered at a residence in New Town, a northern suburb of Hobart. The woman, believed to be in her 60s and the occupant of the property on Lissadell Court, was found on Saturday afternoon. Tasmania Police said investigators believe she may have died several weeks before her body was discovered. Police subsequently arrested and charged a 56-year-old man with murder. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court. Authorities have not yet released the woman’s identity as inquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding her death.
