A 43-year-old man has been charged after allegedly robbing a cash-in-transit vehicle outside a shopping centre in Hervey Bay. Police allege the man threatened two security guards with a gel blaster while they were transferring money to an ATM in Eli Waters, before fleeing with hundreds of thousands of dollars. During a struggle, one of the guards discharged a firearm, damaging a tyre on the suspect’s vehicle. All of the stolen cash was later recovered, and the suspect was arrested at an abandoned property in Craignish after allegedly threatening police with a knife.
