Former Australian foreign minister Julie Bishop has resigned from her role as chancellor of Australian National University after six years in the position. ANU confirmed the resignation and announced that pro-chancellor Larry Marshall will serve in the role on an interim basis until a permanent appointment is made. The university said the council is focused on restoring confidence and strengthening governance following recent criticism surrounding leadership and management issues. Finance Minister Katy Gallagher said rebuilding trust across the university community would take time, while independent ACT senator David Pocock praised staff and students who had pushed for accountability and reform.
