Queensland Showgirl State Finals during the 2026 Ekka in Brisbane. Bridgette Langton has been named the 2026 Darling Downs Showgirl following judging held at the Toowoomba Royal Show. Representing the Goombungee-Haden Show Society, Bridgette will go on to represent the Darling Downs at the Queensland Showgirl State Finals during the Ekka in Brisbane. A corporal in the Royal Australian Air Force based at RAAF Base Amberley, Bridgette maintains strong ties to her hometown of Goombungee. During the judging, she spoke about the importance of mental health awareness and encouraging young people to contribute ideas to ensure agricultural shows remain relevant for future generations. The runner-up in the Showgirl competition was Lucy Gore, representing the Tara Show Society. In the 2026 Darling Downs Rural Ambassador competition, Angus Cronin, representing the Jandowae Show Society, was named the winner. Abby Dwight-Nowland was announced as runner-up. The annual awards celebrate young leaders who contribute to rural communities and help promote the enduring role of agricultural shows across regional Queensland.
