Port Lincoln residents are preparing for a trial of the new Aus Alert emergency notification system, designed to improve the way communities receive warnings during natural disasters and other emergencies. Community information sessions were recently held at the Nautilus Arts Centre, where Chris Mik and Peter Linn explained how the technology will operate and what residents can expect during the upcoming trial. Aus Alert aims to deliver faster and more reliable emergency notifications to people’s mobile devices, helping authorities communicate critical information during bushfires, storms and other crises. Organisers hope the Port Lincoln trial will help refine the system and strengthen community preparedness across South Australia and the rest of Australia
